Good article. I just like to share my personal experience, being a mother of a bride who gave a speech just a few weeks ago. I’ve always been a confident speaker and I have prepared my speech long before the wedding. The one thing I forgot to do which I should have is to write it down and carry a note. When it came to the point where I was telling a story about my daughter, I got very sentimental and I couldn’t help but cry. The next thing I knew, I was lost for words. I managed to say something to conclude my speech before finally giving a toast. I did forget to say some lines that I prepared which is why I would recommend for speakers to carry a small note with them just in case they get stuck because of the emotions.
